Install Steps
- Download the zip file.
- Double-click to extract
WhyDidItCloseApp.app. - Move the app to
/Applications. - Open the app and grant notification permission if prompted.
Gatekeeper Trust Notes
WhyDidItClose distribution builds are signed and notarized for macOS distribution.
If Gatekeeper prompts on first launch:
- Open System Settings > Privacy & Security.
- Review the app prompt.
- Choose Open Anyway only if the file hash matches the SHA256 published above.
Verify Download Integrity
Run this command on your downloaded file:
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/WhyDidItCloseApp.zip
Confirm the output exactly matches the SHA256 value on this page.
Need Help Installing?

If your local hash does not match the published SHA256, delete the file and contact support@whydiditclose.com before opening the app.
